Timbers clinch their spot in 2024 playoffs

After two years away from the MLS Cup Playoffs, the Portland Timbers are on their way back to the postseason. The Timbers clinched their spot with Austin FC's 2-1 defeat on the road to the LA Galaxy last night.

The Timbers currently sit in the 9th spot of the Western Conference, which means that if the season ended today they would head to Vancouver for a Cascadia showdown with the 8th-place Whitecaps, a matchup that ended in a 1-1 draw a week ago. There are two regular season matches left for the Timbers. They host FC Dallas tonight and then they'll end the regular season against the Cascadia rival Seattle Sounders.
